Antonio Nunziante's exhibition, Landscapes of light (Nov 12, 2011 - January 22, 2011) is now on at Palazzo Ducale in Genova, in parallel with another high caliber exhibition: Van Gogh and Gauguin's trip.
Antonio Nunziante was born in 1956 in Naples.
Nunziante's art, as described by Antonio Paolucci, director of Vatican Museums, is both Carravaggesque and "metaphysical":
"...Antonio Nunziante uses the language of the past, that of Caravaggio and Bocklin, of Naturalism, Baroque and Symbolism. It is the language given him by the academies, the books, the museums, which he has investigated, experimented, perfected in his work, making it his own, mastering it like a mother tongue, transforming it into his modus operandi."
This "language of the past" shapes modern creations that we follow with interest.
Here are some images that introduce us to Antonio Nunziante's art.
